The event is a highlight in York’s social calendar. It takes place in a unique setting, surrounded by ruins that have stood beside the River Ouse for over a thousand years. In fact, the Museum Gardens even contain Roman remains.

Why Our Sponsorship of the York Proms Matters

The York Proms was created by local husband and wife team, Jonathan Fewtrell and Rebecca Newman. Rebecca, a No.1-selling classical soprano, spent her early career busking on York’s streets while studying at the University of York. Because of this, the event has deep roots in the local community. It has grown into a respected and much-anticipated part of York’s annual cultural offering.

With that in mind, we felt that the York Proms was the ideal place to begin our sponsorship efforts. Techscend officially launched in May 2024, and we’re committed to building strong, local relationships. Our founder, Thomas Siron, launched the business at just 31 years old. His leap into entrepreneurship mirrors the same sense of adventure shown by Jonathan and Rebecca when they founded the Proms in 2017.

After 15 years in the IT industry, Thomas saw the need for a new kind of Managed Services Provider. Many small businesses struggle to find IT support that is both reliable and affordable. Techscend was created to serve those making the move from working alone at home to growing a team. With energy and experience in equal measure, Thomas aims to grow Techscend into a leading York-based business. We support local companies while also serving clients across the UK.
